How to get to Alexandria

From Cairo

By Train

Travel Time:  2.5 hours.

Cost- Tourist fares.

VIP Class: $26

1st Class: $31

Trains are a quick and comfortable way to reach Alexandria.

Note: Online booking is currently unavailable for foreigners. Tickets can be purchased at the train station (Ramses Station in Cairo), via tourism agencies

 

By Bus

Frequency: Buses depart every hour.

Travel time: Approximately 3 hours.

Cost: 170-240 EGP 

By Taxi/Private ride

Travel time: About 3 hours

Cost: 80$ USD.

Taking a taxi is a more private, but also more expensive, option. The journey can take a bit longer than by train due to traffic, especially during peak hours, but it offers the convenience of direct door-to-door service.

 

By Microbus 

Cost: 60 EGP 

A shared taxi, or minibus service, is another budget-friendly option, often preferred by locals. It’s a fun choice for adventurous travelers who don’t mind a more cramped ride, though it may not be for everyone.

By Flight

During the high season, direct flights to Alexandria, Egypt, are available from the Gulf countries, the UAE, Morocco, Tunisia. and several places in Europe.
