Having cruised the Nile by boat on numerous occasions, I'd like to share some insights on the different cruise options available.
An ancient Egyptian proverb says that whoever drinks from the waters of the Nile will
always return to it.

Classic Cruise(Love Boat)
Cruise ship with 50-150 passengers
3 or 4 nights
Route: Aswan - Luxor or Luxor - Aswan
Stops: Temple of Kom Ombo, Temple of Edfu (or Esna)
Price: $400-1000 USD
Pros: Amenities and activities (pools, gym, entertainment). Potentially lower cost, social atmosphere
Cons: Limited flexibility as the itinerary revolves around the ship's docking schedule
Some thoughts: The ship might spend a significant portion of time docked, functioning more like a floating hotel with excursions planned around the anchorages
Before You Book: Inquire about transportation to excursion sites, availability of a guide, and entry tickets.

Dahabia/Sandal Cruise
Smaller cruise boat with 4-12 cabins
4 or 5 nights
Route: Aswan - Esna or Esna - Aswan
Stops: Temples, archaeological sites, villages, beaches
Price: $600-1500 USD
Pros: Relaxed pace to enjoy the scenery and tranquility. Customizable itinerary on private cruises.
Cons: The boat primarily operates under motor power, with sails being employed for around an hour each day
Some thoughts: Unique and intimate way to experience the Nile. Truly amazing.
Before You Book: Read reviews and book only with a reputable operator as there are many levels of boats.

Felucca - Traditional Sailboat
2-10 passengers
5-7 nights (shorter options available)
Route: Aswan - Esna (or Aswan - Kina) and return
Stops: Temples, archaeological sites, villages, beaches
Price: $40-120 USD per day per person (all-inclusive)
Pros: Authentic Nile experience, far from the crowds. Cultural immersion, breathtaking scenery, exploring hidden coves, emerging with locals under starry skies
Cons: Sailing progress is subject to wind conditions.
Some thoughts: Simple camping-style accommodations. Gliding on wind power. For camping and adventure lovers.
Before You Book: Choose a captain with whom you feel comfortable. Confirm the quality of the meals prepared on board.

Additional Cruise Options:
Cairo - Aswan: 11-14 nights
